About Us

Trade Service of Australia is the leading Independent provider of Home Entertainment and Electrical Data and content throughout Australia. Company origins date back to 1978 when the first bound Electrical Price Book was published in Brisbane by Electrical Pricing Services Pty Ltd. In 1982 Trade Service Corporation, a US Trade publishing company, acquired Electrical Pricing Services Pty Ltd, and Trade Service of Australia was born as a subsidiary to the American parent.

The company grew and evolved from purely paper based products to include electronic content and products. During the Dot Com boom Trade Service became part of the Global i2 Corporation. In mid-2005 however i2 sold off Trade Service Corporation (USA), and in turn, late in 2007, Trade Service of Australia was acquired by Management Buy-Out and is now 100% Australian owned. The company continues to have technical links to the ex US parent.

Over the past 25 + years the company has earned the trust of thousands of Industry Stakeholders, through the provision of Business Tools, Data Services and Publications. TSA products and services are used daily by hundreds of customers.

TSA in the Electrical Industry

TSA obtains pricing and product information from the numerous manufacturers/importers/distributors/vendors of electrical and data products. The information is provided in various formats - XML feeds, CSV files, PDF files and paper catalogues. Product content managers process the data and then channel it into an SQL production databases. Product data, now in a consistent format, is extended into various Business systems, programs, catalogues and print publications, and then distributed to clients.

Currently TSA tracks over 240,000 items, covering approximately 200 Brands in the electrical industry. New Brands are added regularly at the request of clients.

TSA in the Entertainment Industry

Since 1982, TSA has served the Home Entertainment Industry. The client base includes franchised and independent video hire outlets, department stores, retailers, independent music stores, film distributors, libraries, online retailers and websites.

Trade Service of Australia aggregates product information provided by the mainstream Home Entertainment distributors in Australia. The information is received in various formats and processed by enthusiastic editors, into a central database. Information from the database is used to create and publish paper-based reference catalogues, and provide a standardised and structured data format for clients to feed their software systems and websites. The company tracks 30 distributors who release an average of 400 New releases into the market each month. The company holds the most extensive catalogue of video/DVD/Blu-ray product with more than 100,000 releases.

The company has teamed with leading Industry partners who provide business solutions to retailers and renters of Entertainment products. Integration links have been developed between the business systems and the TSA data feed. This gives clients a holistic and comprehensive product information solution, including price, catalogue number, barcode, back catalogue availability, specials and promotions; which is then fed directly into the business systems. This data is referenced daily by consumers when making DVD rental or purchase decisions, and by clients for their “back office” operations such as purchasing activities and inventory control.
